STEVENSVILLE — This morning, a four-seat Cirrus aircraft crashed while landing at Bay Bridge Airport in Stevensville. Queen Anne's County officials said upon landing, the aircraft veered off the side of the runway into a marshy area, coming to rest partially in the water.
Although the aircraft sustained significant damage, the sole occupant was not injured, according to Beth Malasky, public information manager for the county.
Shortly after noon, local fire departments and EMS had cleared the scene, and federal and state aviation authorities were en route to conduct a standard investigation into the incident.
Malasky said there is no damage to the runway; however, the airport will remain closed until the investigation is complete.
