Previous political experience: I am not a politician, I am a regular resident of Easton. I got interested in politics when I was involved with Medical Freedom for Talbot County.
1. Why are you running for the Ward 2 seat on the Easton Town Council?
Running for Ward 2 is an honor. I am running because we need a voice for the day-to-day people who live in Easton. The hardworking backbone of our society. Your neighbors, servers, police, grocery store workers, those struggling on social security, etc. I see and hear the struggles.
2. What issues will you prioritize if elected?
I will prioritize the accountability of the Town Council, transparency and accountability with 鈥測our鈥 money, smart growth for our special town.
We need to keep our next generation. People with and without children are from moving away from the Shore because they can鈥檛 afford to live here and raise a family.
3. What changes would you make to the town鈥檚 budget, and what budget items should not be cut?
The town budget is not transparent enough. We need to see more details instead of just line items with no explanations. It鈥檚 hard to see exactly where our money is going.
4. While the town has grown, affordable housing remains a challenge for residents. How should the town build more housing, in particular affordable housing?
It is funny the Census has Easton population growth of only 101 more people since 2020. We all can see there has been much more growth. Either that or are we just congested because of workers commuting who live in more affordable towns. We need starter home neighborhoods for the first responders, teachers and people not making six figures. We can think outside the box 鈥 barndominiums, tiny homes or prefab housing neighborhoods, which are much less expensive to build.
5. What are your plans for public safety in Easton? What can be improved?
Safety is key for everyone in Easton. We need to treat our neighbors with kindness. Introduce yourself and watch out for each other. We have exceptional first responders, including police, EMS and volunteer firefighters, working a tough job just out of their heart for the people of their community. They are doing a great job even though they are running with short manpower.
With the area growing, we need to make sure we keep them equipped with proper needs.
6. In addition to serving the Town of Easton as a whole, what are your plans to improve your ward specifically?
I love the Ward 2 area where I live and volunteer. The Rails to Trails is a huge part of linking neighborhoods to the downtown area. Keeping that a positive and safe trail is always a concern for everyone.
Also, Idlewild Park is the most used park in Easton, so we need to keep it updated for everyone. The play area needs some attention, and why not do a pickleball court, since its popularity has grown 52% since 2019?
九色视频 questionnaire was sent to all Easton Town Council candidates to allow them to share their perspective on various town issues in their own words. Responses may be edited for length and clarity.
