VIENNA — A Dorchester County man has been arrested for allegedly firing shots at a Maryland State Police trooper Thursday night in Vienna. The trooper was not injured, police said.
Armond Darel Jolley, 46, of Vienna, has been charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault and use of a firearm in a violent crime.
The shooting occurred around 10:20 p.m. Thursday, according to a Maryland State Police press release. State police responded to a home in the 100 block of Middle Street in Vienna for a "reported disturbance."
The state trooper made contact with a man and requested to speak with him, but the man "disappeared into the home," according to the release. The man, later identified as Jolley, "returned with a gun and fired multiple shots towards the trooper," police said.
The trooper didn't return fire and requested backup as Jolley fled the scene, police said.
Troopers from the State Police barrack in Easton "secured the perimeter and conducted neighborhood checks," the release said.
Police located Jolley near Water Street behind the home around 20 minutes after the shooting. He was taken into custody without further incident after a foot pursuit, police said.
Jolley is being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.Â
