A-dough-rable moment: cCelebrating their first time at Chesapeake Manor Vineyard, Jessica Beckmann and her mother Beverly Coursey along with three-month-old Brianna Beckmann of Kent Island enjoy a day in the sunshine with good times, good wines, and fresh delicious Gonuts Donuts.
The panoramic view of Chesapeake Manor Vineyard in Stevensville became even more irresistible with the smell, sights, and tastes of fresh baked donuts as gourmet truck Gonuts Donuts celebrated its grand opening Sept. 13.
A mechanic his whole life, owner Kevin Roskosky sought to try something new and out of the ordinary with his family, “and what’s more fun than donuts?†he said.
Roskosky’s expertise in vehicles lent itself to tricking out the self-built trailer for delicious donut goodness.
The family operation Gonuts Donuts crafts made to order donuts in a variety of flavors and toppings, including classics of chocolate and vanilla to Fruity Pebble, s’mores, and chocolate peanut butter. And sprinkles. Lots and lots of sprinkles. Through trial and error the family has perfected their tried and true recipes, he said.
The current seasonal fall flavor is maple bacon, a perfect combination of salty and sweet with homemade maple glaze and generous chunks of bacon.
Gonuts Donuts also sells snacks of fruit, chips and drinks.
Community reception for the donuts on-wheels has been overwhelmingly positive, Roskosky said, with eager crowds sugar-surging for dozens of donuts all throughout the opening day.
Taking in the scenic view of Chesapeake Manor Vineyard while the rest of the family played nearby was mother and daughter Beverly Coursey and Jessica Beckmann of Kent Island.
Their first time visiting the winery, it was when the two heard about the donut truck’s pop up grand opening on Saturday that they knew they had to check it out.
Happy to support local businesses and enjoy a glass of wine with their donut, “They are delicious and have so many flavors,†Beckmann said.
“Mimosas and donuts pair well, you can’t go wrong,†Coursey said.
The vineyard itself lent a wonderful atmosphere for the whole family, with plenty of activities and space for children, and a relaxing environment for adults to sit back, Beckmann said.
Providing surprise deliveries of fresh donuts to community members who go above and beyond, Gonuts is initiating a Donut Drop Poll, inviting the community to decide each week which Hometown Heroes to deliver to, including first responders, teachers, and doctor’s offices.
Still looking into potential permanent locations, more information about Gonuts Donuts, including pre-ordering, and upcoming next stops can be found on Gonuts Donuts social media of Facebook and Instagram.
