The League of Women Voters of the Mid-Shore, in partnership with the Town of Oxford and the Oxford Community Center, will sponsor a forum for candidates competing in the election to fill the expired term of one Town of Oxford Commissioner.
The forum will take place June 9 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Oxford Community Center, located at 200 Oxford Rd. This event is free and open to the public. Voters are encouraged to attend and learn more about the candidates and their positions on issues that impact the town.
Incumbent Tom Costigan and David Donovan are competing for the seat and have both been invited to participate in the forum.
Per the Town of Oxford Charter, candidates may qualify with the Town of Oxford Board of Election Supervisors as a “write in candidate†by June 7. Candidates who qualify by the write-in deadline will also be invited to participate.
The forum will be moderated by League of Women Voters of the Mid Shore President Glenna Heckathorn. Questions will be submitted from the audience via notecards distributed during the forum. All candidates will be asked the same questions and will have equal time to respond.
The Oxford Community Center will livestream the event at: @oxfordcommunitycenterinc6256.
The League requests that no campaign literature or paraphernalia be taken into the forum room while the event is taking place. No campaign material may be placed on town owned property or in the town or state right of ways.
The election will take place Tuesday, June 17, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oxford Community Services Building, located at 101 Oxford St.
