ST. MICHAELS — The St. Michaels Community Center launched its highly anticipated Summer Concerts in the Park series May 29 with a high-energy performance by local favorite Black Dog Alley. The free, family-friendly concert drew a crowd of nearly 300 folks to the scenic waterfront setting of Muskrat Park.
This year’s series includes 14 Thursday evening concerts, held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., through Aug. 28. The grand finale on Aug. 28 will celebrate the community center’s 35th anniversary with a special performance from popular band Saved by Zero.
Upcoming performances include Woodshed Blues on June 12.
“We’re thrilled to see such strong support from the community right from the start,†said Amy Horne, executive director of the St. Michaels Community Center. “These free concerts bring people together in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere and support vital programs for children, seniors and families in need.â€
Proceeds from concert sponsorships, concessions, raffles and donations directly support the community center’s year-round programming, including afterschool and summer camps for children, senior lunches and activities, and a food distribution program that provides hot congregate and delivered meals, along with a well-stocked food pantry.
