Sixteen extraordinary art works created by students from St. Michaels High School are on display at the newly renovated public library for the month of May during regularly scheduled hours. Shown above is 12th grader August Willis’ monoprint collage. Four pieces from each grade level have been selected by art teachers Lindsey Basham and Bridget Whited and highlighted in a show sponsored by the St. Michaels Art League. “The art league wants to support the art education of our local youth by displaying art works of various media in a public venue for all to see,” said show chair Stacey Sass. Members Lucia Calloway and Sass, both retired art teachers, have judged the pieces for first, second, third and honorable mention awards. All patrons of the library are invited to cast a ballot for “Best-in-Show.” An awards reception will be held at the St. Michaels Library on Tuesday, May 19 from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Any questions can be directed to [email protected].
