TRAPPE — Five people were injured in a crash on Wednesday afternoon in Trappe, according to Maryland State Police.

A spokesperson said a crash occurred in the area of Route 50 and Greenfield Avenue just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. An SUV struck the rear of a Mack truck, police said.

The driver and front passenger of the SUV “were taken to a local trauma center by Maryland State Police Aviation Command,†the MSP spokesperson said. Their specific conditions were not immediately disclosed.


Two infants and a 12-year-old sitting in the backseat were also injured, police said. They were taken to a nearby hospital.

No other injuries were reported, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
