DORCHESTER COUNTY 鈥 Those working at Patriot Point know how hard life after the military can be, and they believe the retreat and help from For All Seasons will help save veteran lives.
For All Seasons has established a partnership with the Military Bowl that will expand help to veterans at Patriot Point, a military retreat center.
The retreat sits on 294-acres in Dorchester County. The organization provides a relaxing and safe environment for wounded, ill and injured military members, veterans and their families and caregivers.
For All Seasons will provide on-site mental health consulting at retreats that Patriot Point holds.
鈥淲e are working very closely with the Military Bowl Foundation,鈥 For All Seasons President and Chief Executive Officer Beth Anne Dorman said. 鈥淭he ultimate partnership is that we will be providing mental health services and support to Patriot Point.鈥
Veteran and Military Support Alliance will also will partner with Patriot Point to bring more of the same veterans and military members to participate in the retreat.
For All Seasons plans to help Patriot Point鈥檚 retreaters in many different ways that will kick start veterans knowledge of what trauma they may be experiencing.
鈥淲e鈥檙e also working in partnership with therapeutic yoga instructors, we are bringing in certified art therapists,鈥 Dorman said. 鈥淭he idea is to be able to create a safe space for veterans to have conversation, education, to bring in a mental health component, and also provide a beautiful scenery where veterans can connect in small groups and be able to receive wraparound support.鈥
In addition to the mental health component offered by For All Seasons, Patriot Point offers many activities for retreaters to enjoy themselves, including fishing, hunting and a workout room with golf and hunting simulators.
Patriot Point is run by veterans who have experience different forms of post traumatic stress disorder and other mental problems veterans and military members may experience.
Co-General Managers of Patriot Point Will and Stephanie Moon experienced the retreat first-hand. They said Patriot Point helped them as a couple and as individuals.
Will Moon, a Navy Seal veteran, was struggling with life as a civilian. The Moons鈥 couples therapist recommended that he attend a retreat at Patriot Point in January of 2024.
Stephanie Moon, an experienced certified trauma-sensitive yoga instructor and a certified integrative restoration meditation teacher, received a call from the previous general managers of Patriot Point stating they were leaving and wanted someone to take over.
Will and Stephanie drove all the way to Maryland from North Caroline to go see Patriot Point, during the time on the road, they researched many different things about Patriot Point to find out what they were getting themselves into.
鈥淲e gave up everything to be here,鈥 Will Moon said. 鈥淚 knew the moment that I drove through the gate, everyone needs some type of therapy in a way, and in this place, it鈥檚 the peer-to-peer, it鈥檚 the interactions that you鈥檙e not alone that people realize, they come here for retreats and then they realize they need help.鈥
Will and Stephanie Moon have been Co-General Managers since Aug. 15.
鈥淧atroit Point is 294 acres, but healing does occur here. Those six days really helped saved my life,鈥 Will Moon said.
For All Season and Patriot Point will conduct their first retreat together in late spring.
