During my trip to Tucson, while accompanying my mom to one of her doctor’s appointments, I came across a quote by Morgan Freeman that resonated with me: “How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.†This thought sparked a reflection on the profound impact that small acts of kindness can have in our daily lives.

In our fast-paced and demanding world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the challenges we face and to overlook the significance of kindness. Yet, we are reminded by God to “not become weary in doing good,†and to seize every opportunity “to do good to all people.†For, in doing so, “at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up†(Galatians 6:9-10).

Small acts of kindness may seem insignificant, but they are vital in building the community we long for. Each gesture, no matter how minor, can create a ripple effect, impacting lives in ways we may never fully grasp. By committing to do good whenever the opportunity arises, we contribute to a greater kingdom impact — not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us.

Whether it’s a warm smile, a helping hand, or a simple word of encouragement, these small tokens of kindness can uplift spirits and strengthen bonds within our communities. In moments of discouragement, let us remember that these small acts are the building blocks of a compassionate society, nurturing a sense of belonging and support, and encouraging people to experience and express the goodness of God.
