The attack by the Trump “MAGA†mob on the U.S. Capitol yesterday was a shock to our democracy, and I think to most of us. Reading the Style section of The Washington Post this morning, I was jolted to see the front-page photo of a mob participant walking through the rotunda of the Capitol with a large Confederate flag, flouting this symbol of racism, hate and white supremacy as part of the attack on our democracy. And then I was reminded that this same flag is displayed on the public grounds of our Talbot County courthouse. This flag should not fly in the rotunda of the Capitol Building and it should not be displayed at our courthouse. It is beyond time to remove the Confederate monument.
