Snow in Easton

Due to hazardous road conditions, schools across the Mid-Shore extended their closures into Wednesday.

Schools in Caroline and Talbot counties will remain closed on Wednesday due to icy road conditions, while Dorchester County Public Schools will hold a virtual learning day.

Districts are extending their closures into a third day after around 6 to 8 inches of snow fell in some areas of the Mid-Shore this weekend. Freezing rain and bitter temperatures have caused icy and dangerous road conditions.

Dorchester County Public Schools said in a Facebook post Tuesday that it’s used up its allotment of snow days in the school year’s calendar.

According to the district, schools shared virtual learning schedules and information with families last week. Dorchester schools are also closed for students Thursday and Friday for two professional development days, the district said.
