The Doverbrook Apartments, an affordable complex in Easton, will move in resident soon, according to Housing Commission of Talbot Executive Director Don Bibb.
九色视频 鈥 The revitalized Doverbrook Apartments were shown off to state, county and town leaders last week as final touches are completed before residents move in.
Don Bibb, executive director of the Housing Commission of Talbot, said the 64-unit redevelopment project will benefit the community.
鈥淵ou can see the tremendous improvement this has made to the community and the opportunity for much improved, long-term sustainable housing for the program participants that we have that are going to be living here,鈥 Bibb said April 30 during a tour of the complex.
Bibb said Thursday that move-in for returning residents is imminent and is likely to begin within seven to 10 days.
The commission and construction company Pennrose began redevelopment of the Doverbrook Apartments in late 2023. The $26 million project replaced the apartment complex鈥檚 seven old buildings with five new buildings, adding 14 units to its original 50-unit setup.
鈥淚t鈥檚 good utilization of open space that provides the opportunity for the growth to add more units in,鈥 Bibb said.
Located on Dover Street, the complex will accommodate households earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income, or between $21,000 and $58,000 for one-person households.
It includes one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments. Project leaders said the complex was designed to bring original residents 鈥 who were assisted in finding temporary housing during construction 鈥 back once completed.
Bibb said of the original 50 tenants, around 30 will return 鈥 a relatively high percentage for a redevelopment project during which residents move elsewhere temporarily.
Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day toured the apartment complex April 30. He applauded the redevelopment efforts and lightheartedly pointed out how close residents will be to Rise Up Coffee across the street.
鈥淒o your marketing materials for the remaining (units) talk about how many steps it is to the Rise Up?鈥 Day said with a smile.
Bibb praised the public-private aspect of the project, which included state and local funding and low-income housing tax credits for the 14 new units.
鈥淚t was well worth the blood, sweat and tears,鈥 Bibb said.
