The Talbot County Sheriff鈥檚 Office said in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon that it was investigating a bomb threat at the school. Staff and students were evacuated and are safe, police said.

Just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, TCSO Administrative Commander John Bollinger said all students were dismissed. Bus riders were taken on their normal buses and transported home, the Sheriff鈥檚 Office said on Facebook.

Students who were picked up or students who walked home were dismissed from the football stadium, while students driving home had their cars cleared by police, Bollinger said.

He said police in the criminal investigation division are 鈥渨orking on some leads.鈥�

Bollinger also confirmed that Tuesday鈥檚 bomb threat is unrelated to a school safety announcement the Sheriff鈥檚 Office made on Monday evening. In that announcement, Sheriff Joe Gamble said there an increased police presence at Talbot County schools Monday amid social media rumors, though police determined there was 鈥渘o credible threat.鈥�

Early Tuesday afternoon, officers from the Easton Police Department and the Sheriff鈥檚 Office were stationed on roads surrounding the high school.

Around 1:15 p.m., the school first informed students鈥� guardians of the bomb threat.

鈥淓aston High has received a Bomb threat. At this time, we are evacuating the building,鈥� the message from the school read.
