The Office of the State Fire Marshal said in a press release Thursday that a blaze on Cokesbury Road near Rhodesdale was intentionally set. No arrests have been announced.

Just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the chicken house structure fire was discovered by a neighbor, the fire marshal’s office said. The building was not being used at the time, and no one was injured.

Firefighters from the Eldorado-Brookview Volunteer Fire Department and other agencies struck the second alarm and took around 90 minutes to control the blaze, according to the fire marshal.

Damages were estimated at $30,000.

The site of the fire is north of Galestown and northeast of Rhodesdale and Eldorado, near the Delaware state line. The fire marshal’s office asks that nearby residents to check residential cameras for footage of people or vehicles in the area at the exact time of the blaze, 9:37 p.m.

“Any little bit of information and additional video footage may assist investigators in determining who was responsible for setting this fire,� the fire marshal wrote.
