CENTREVILLE — Sophomore quarterback Colton Starlings was 9 of 13 for 335 yards and four touchdowns Thursday night, as Queen Anne’s County High’s football team rolled to a 52-20 victory over Southern of Anne Arundel in the first round of the Class 2A-1A East Region playoffs.
The third-seeded Lions (8-2) play at No. 2 seed Easton (8-2) in the second round next week.
Starlings connected with Jadereon Thompson (3 catches, 142 yards) for touchdown passes of 73 and 29 yards, and hit Amari Baynard (3-114) for TD passes of 29 and 60 yards.
DeRodney Smith carried five times for 22 yards, including a touchdown, and Dorrin Phillips ran for a touchdown for the Lions.
Hunter Kelly and Brian Maleski each had nine tackles for Queen Anne’s, and Elijah Billups finished with eight tackles. Romelo Wilson and Carter Dickey had one interception apiece.
Queen Anne’s led 45-0 at halftime.
