¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ — Easton Police Officers arrested a Hurlock man on Aug. 9 on an arrest warrant.
Corey D. Cooper, 48, was charged with numerous counts of theft, attempted theft, attempted theft scheme: $1,500 to $25,000, forgery of private documents and credit card apply/false ID.
Cooper was taken before a Talbot County District Court Commissioner where he was released on a $7,500 unsecured bond.
Detectives of the EPD received a call on Jan. 16, 2018, from a Law Enforcement Agency in North Carolina saying a person reported their Amazon account was hacked and numerous charged were placed on their credit card, using the victim's Amazon account.
Detectives learned that numerous packages were being shipped to Cooper, who was residing in Easton at the time.
Officers of the EPD executed a search and seizure warrant on Feb. 16, 2018 at Cooper's residence and recovered packages ordered using the victim's account.
Detectives also recovered counterfeit checks, credit card applications in different people's names, and other evidence that linked Cooper to a multi-state, fraud ring.
Charges were then obtained for Cooper.
